Sister Thea Bowman's life was short but graciously lived. My good friend Dr. Washington Burns and his family were neighbors with her family during the middle years of the 20th century in Mississippi.
Thea Bowman (December 29, 1937 in Yazoo City, Mississippi - March 30, 1990 in Canton, Mississippi) was a Roman Catholic nun, teacher, and scholar. Born Bertha Bowman she converted to the Roman Catholic Church and joined the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration of La Crosse, Wisconsin. She gave inspirational talks and was on 60 Minutes with Mike Wallace
