Pictures Done in Watercolor and Inks
/ Frederick Douglass
by TheArthur Wright
Frederick
Douglass was and is a hero of rnine. He rose to great stature, taken there by
the tides of his times and kept there by the sheer force of his will and charisma;
his staying power proving that early successes were portentous of his future
greatness; his inner dignity his greatest ally and truest guide. Over the years
many portraits and photographs of him have surfaced, and many more shall come
I am sure. He is usually portrayed as very serious and stern, even fierce. I
would like to think that in private he could also share humor with the best.
For that reason I present him here with a twinkle his eye, and in color ? a
rare combination!
