The Great Seal
The sovereign of a mighty island kingdom. Legend says that men were welcomed on Califia’s island for a 24- hour period, but that time eventually had to end and to extend it, however slightly, would lead to certain death and the half-lion, half-eagle griffins of the Amazons would dine. Portrayed with a lion's body, an eagle's head, long pointed ears and an eagle's claws, griffins were nourished on the flesh of men. Women of war might do just such a thing, to proffer as griffin fodder a man who paid the ultimate penalty for overstaying what should have been a most enjoyable visitation.
